Fussy cutting with freezer paper templates is the hallmark of this artistic design. A combination of hand and machine piecing (a hybrid) is a wonderful way to sew these hexagons (video). Piecing by hand or by machine with freezer paper templates is simpler, more precise and faster than English Paper Piecing. The book includes a beautiful centerfold of the entire quilt (photograph by Julia Hedgecoe). There is an active Facebook group for Lucy Boston Patchwork of the Crosses with Linda Franz. See Linda’s video on hybrid piecing on the Checker YouTube channel.
